Public Consultation Results 2007

As only 5 villagers responded to the consultation out of 2,000 homes it can only be assumed every one is blissfully happy in the village or are too apathetic to respond. Are we , as an Action group,  wasting our time and effort ? If you wish us to continue please contact us as we will have no option to cease functioning.

Raw results:

5 people responded to the notice in the July 2007 Wellesbourne and Walton News, 2 by web form, and 3 on the tear-off slips. All but one provided contact information.

1. Speeding inNewbold Road and Bridge Street

2. Speeding in Charlecote Road and straight through to Kineton Road

3. Urgent need for self-activating speed signs on all the above roads

1. Speeding Traffic - all roads through the village

2. Range of shops / amenities (e.g. a Costa or similar would be nice!)

3. Aircraft Noise, particularly at weekends

1. Greater visual police presence

2. Appeal to the many HGV distributors to use the A429 to access the M40 rather than routing vehicles through the village via the B4086 and B4087.

3. Augment the much-ignored 30 mph signs on the B4086 with visual warning as used successfully on the A429 at Barford.

1. The persistent use of Bridge St & the one-way system for parking cars

2. Feed to traffic speeds in the village [This one was hard to read].

3. Pavements in bad state throughout the village

1. Cars parked in Bridge St causing danger with motorists and cyclists

2. Better parking

3. Curbing speed through Wellesbourne

Summary

1. The number one issue in Wellesbourne is Speeding. All respondents mentioned it, some in all 3 issues,

from simply asking for it to be curbed, to several suggestions that visual warning signs, such as those that were successful on the A429 at Barford, be deployed here.

2. The only other Issue to receive multiple mentions is Parking, particularly inBridge Street .

3. Five other issues were mentioned. Giving Issue 1 more weight, Greater visual Police presence came out

 third.

Other issues were:

·  HGV distributors to use the A429 to access the M40 rather than routing vehicles through the village via

 the B4086 and B4087

·  Shops / amenities, Range of (Costa or similar would be nice!)

·  Aircraft Noise, particularly at weekends

·  Pavements in bad state throughout the village
