Southam is a small historic coaching and market town situated in the heart of rural Warwickshire on the crossroads of the A423 and A425 between Banbury and Coventry. It is approximately 8 miles from Royal Leamington Spa which is the nearest large town. It is about 3 miles from the Fosse Way (old Roman road). It is also the home of Warwickshire Polo with the fantastic Polo Grounds (home of the Royal Leamington Spa Polo Club) situated on the edge of the town. Click here to go to Sports page .

There is a good mix of housing in Southam and also an industrial estate on the edge of the town. In addition, many people commute to neighbouring towns for work. Southam is well-placed for this as there are direct roads to Coventry, Rugby, Daventry, Banbury, Kenilworth, Leamington Spa and Warwick. All are within half an hour by car. Slightly further afield are Stratford-upon-Avon and Northampton. Solihull, Birmingham and Oxford are all reachable via the M40. There is also the Fosse Way nearby which leads southwards to the Cotswolds and northwards to Leicester.

Southam
Southam is almost entirely surrounded by agricultural land. The River Stowe rises to the east of Southam and flows westward to join the River Itchen about two thirds of a mile to the west of the town. Southam serves as a local centre for the villages around it, including, Long Itchington, Stockton, Napton, Ladbroke, Bishops Itchington, Harbury and Ufton.

Activities and social gatherings are a regular occurrence in the community. With the varied interests in the town a number of groups, clubs and societies have been formed. To promote these groups this site devotes a section just for Local Groups.

An integral part of Southam's vibrant community are the shops and services provided in the town, an extensive list of these and the service they provide can be found by clicking here.
Tourism, accommodation, food and drink are well covered too, with places to stay and visit.

Southam is also part of the British Towns & Villages Network
